GMC and GCSU Host Evening with macon symphony Orchestra

“Salute to Lincoln’s Bicentennial” was the theme of the evening musical performance by the Macon Symphony Orchestra when it traveled to Milledgeville on Friday, March 13 to perform at the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts. The concert was co-sponsored by Georgia Military College and Georgia College and State University.

The 7 p.m. event, under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Adrian Gnam, included “Fanfare for the Common Man” by

Aaron Copland, “Blue Shades for Orchestra” by Composer in Residence Frank Ticheli, and “A Lincoln Portrait” by Aaron Copland, narrated by Major General Peter J. Boylan.

The symphony performance is part of the continued commitment of Georgia Military College and Georgia College and State University to bring the fine arts to the community. Through the leadership of MG Boylan and President Leland, the Macon Symphony performs in Milledgeville each year with the colleges alternating hosting and promotion of the concert.
