
During fiscal year 2008, the GMC Foundation received outright gifts in the amount
of $1.6 million, and bequests, $1.7 million, for a total of almost $3.4 million.
With the addition of pledges at $161,194, commitments to GMC totaled $3,560,446,
resulting in the best fundraising year in the Foundation’s history.
Benefactors of Georgia Military College have provided, through their generosity,
many reasons to celebrate, including the following:
- Substantial endowment growth occurred, with a beginning balance of
$5.8 million on July 1, 2007, and an ending balance of $8.7 million on
June 30, 2008.
- $3,074,167.95 was deposited directly to the endowment during fiscal
year 2008.
- Foundation scholarship awards increased from $47,869 in the
previous year to $70,517. In addition, $25,000 was distributed in annual
scholarships, for a grand total in excess of $95,000.
- "GMC’s Promise: The Campaign for Georgia Military Prep School"
received $1,293,500 in commitments, with only $107,500 remaining
to be raised during the second year of the two-year campaign.
- Three new planned giving commitments were made, and five new
endowments ranged from $25,000 to $100,000 each, matched with $64,500 in
Title III funds for a total of $269,500.
- Approximately 100 gave at the President’s Circle level ($1,000+).
